Ace that Dental Assistant Interview (Here's How!)
Congratulations!
You canvassed Dental Assistant openings on Dentalworkers.com, and your resume caught the attention of an employer. Whether it's dreaded or not, the interview looms near, and with a little prep and homework on your part, you can nail this.
- Be prepared to answer questions: specifics about former jobs, whether you know how to perform certain procedures, how well do you work with clients, your computer skills, and that's just some of it. You may be asked why you left a job, and if this is your first job, do you have any relevant experience, like volunteering. Be honest, and show enthusiasm!
- Know something about the office or company where you are interviewing: how long they have been around, what are their specialties, how many staff members are there, what is their client load. You'd be amazed at how many people don't bother to learn about a company before they go to an interview – do NOT fall into this group of uneducated people!
- You may get asked to do a hands-on task as part of the interview. Some employers will want to observe your skills or techniques.
- The interview process is not just a one-way street! Remember, as much as you are being sized up and evaluated, this is also your time to ascertain how you like what you have seen in the office, and how you think you'll fit in. You can ask questions such as "What type of patients do you have?". You can also ask if the interviewer has any further questions for your or any concerns that you have not yet answered yet.
- No matter how you feel the interview transpired, always send the interviewer a Thank-You email or note – you can still continue to be proactive, even after the interview….
GOOD LUCK!
